On Tuesday, September 3, the Suzies varsity field hockey team beat Northbridge 4-0 at home. This was a great way for them to start off the season.
In the first quarter, senior Katerina Quill scored the first goal with 4:43 left, putting the Suzies at a 1-0 lead. About a minute later, senior Camryn Kinne got another goal, making the game 2-0.
This game was a shutout for goalkeeper senior Allie Hastings. At one point, a reverse chip from Northbridge at the top of the circle came hard towards the goal, but Allie blocked it perfectly.
In quarter 2, Camryn Kinne scored her second goal of the game, putting the Suzies up by 3.
In quarter 3, junior Allison DaSilva scored the fourth and final goal of the game.
The Suzies worked together well as a team and played tough defense and strong offense. The girls didn’t let in a single goal and took shots whenever they could, pushing them towards a win.
After the varsity game, the JV had their season opener too, which ended in a 2-0 win. This win was their first since the 2022 season, so it meant a lot to them. This game was played 7v7 due to the size of Northbridge’s JV team.
Goalkeeper freshman Peyton Winchell had a shutout as well.
The first goal of the game was scored by freshman Danika Eykman. She launched a strong ariel from the right side of the circle, which soared into the goal.
The second goal was scored by freshman Cecilia D’Anello and assisted by Danika Eykman.
