Coming back to school from a long summer with no set schedule is difficult. Whether your summer schedule consists of going to bed at dawn or waking up early, having to get ready for school is so difficult after being off from school for three months. A routine in the morning is what students need to be successful.
Setting a permanent sleep schedule is vital to getting back on track for the new school year. Although the school year has already started, two weeks before the school year begins, start setting your alarm counting down until your wakeup time. Day one you would set it for 9:00 am and by Day 14, with a constant schedule, your alarm would go off at 6:00 am. By decreasing 15 minutes, the system helps your body wake up and get ready by the first day of school.
When school is starting, life gets pretty hectic so making sure to stop at the store and pick up school supplies is key! Most teachers will post their class supplies before the first day of school in their syllabus to make sure students/parents can buy the appropriate classroom materials.
The night before the first day of school is filled with nerves, but also excitement for what’s next. A great way to have a great first day of school is to be prepared on the last day of summer. One way to be prepared is to get your outfit for the first day all picked out and ready to go. This way, you save time the next morning trying to find the perfect outfit for school. The habit of picking out your outfit the night before is a great routine to get into the whole school year.
Another way to be prepared is to look over your schedule and print it out. Most students have at least one new teacher and finding their classroom can be difficult, but having your schedule in hand can fix this problem.
It is the morning of the first day of school, and whether you are a kindergarten student or it is your senior year, this is a very important day. To start your morning, eat a healthy breakfast. When you eat a healthy breakfast in the morning it gets you started on a positive note.
Finally, know the start time of school and how long it takes you to get there. If you take the bus, make sure you know the time your bus arrives at your stop to be able to get there on time. Being early or late on your first day sets the tone for the rest of the year.
Having a balanced routine relieves the stress of getting ready for your first day and allows you to have a great year!

I have always found it easier to have everything ready the night before; clothes, supplies, anything I need to bring with me anywhere I go the next morning. I could not leave all those decisions for the morning!!!
A good idea for the young or old in my estimation!!
