The Sutton High School soccer program has consistently put themselves up against many tough opponents. We are halfway through the season. How is the season going and is there a potential for a championship to come home this year?
The soccer teams have had a tough schedule. Coach Mike Elster and the varsity are currently 5-2. They have beaten some tough teams such as Shrewsbury, Algonquin, and Nipmuc. Technically, they are undefeated and haven’t lost a game, but unfortunately their first two games were counted as a loss because they didn’t have a physical record for a player.
As for the JV team, things are a little tough on their end. Coach Rob Magner and the JV boys have struggled against some tough opponents. They do have two wins under their belt which is a good start. They are currently 2-5. Their wins have come from games against Shephard Hill and Hopedale.
Looking ahead, the schedule doesn’t get easier, but tough games create tough teams, and to win a championship a team needs to be tough. Come out and support the Sammies!
