NY Jets 24 New England 3
The New York Jets opened Week 3 with a dominant 24-3 win over the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night. The spotlight was on Aaron Rodgers, who returned to the site of his Achilles injury from last season. Rodgers was in total control as he delivered an impressive performance, completing 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. With this victory, the Jets improved to a 2-1 record, while the Patriots fell to 1-2 for the season.
New York snapped a 15-game losing streak against New England last season in Bill Belichick’s last game as head coach. The Jet’s defense this Thursday was ferocious, recording five sacks on Jacoby Brissett. In the final minutes, Drake Maye, the No. 3 overall pick, made his NFL debut, taking over for Brissett, who was 12 of 18 for 98 yards. Maye completed 4 of 8 passes for 22 yards and was sacked twice. Despite the challenges, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo expressed no immediate plans for a quarterback change.
Minnesota 34 Houston 7

If someone told me that Sam Darnold would be one of if not the best quarterback this season I would call them crazy. Darnold and the Vikings are surprisingly 3-0 this season, and the new Minnesota quarterback matched his career high with four touchdown passes. The undefeated Vikings intercepted C.J. Stroud twice and sacked him four times in a 34-7 victory over the Texans on Sunday. In an impressive defensive performance, Jonathan Greenard, a standout player for the Minnesota Vikings, sacked his former college teammate, quarterback Stroud. Stroud had been named the 2023 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Minnesota used an aggressive and unpredictable defensive strategy that left the Houston Texans (2-1) struggling. The loud support from the fans at U.S. Bank Stadium fueled the Vikings’ dominant performance. Running back Aaron Jones had a stellar performance, rushing for 102 yards and catching five passes for 46 yards, contributing to the Vikings’ recent victories over strong opponents. Despite low preseason expectations, the team has emerged victorious in their home games, including a significant win against Houston.
Week 3 Game of the Week: Los Angeles Rams 27, San Francisco 49ers 24
In Week 3, the Los Angeles Rams made an impressive comeback to beat the San Francisco 49ers, 27-24. Rookie kicker Joshua Karty scored a 37-yard field goal for the win. Despite a great performance by Jauan Jennings for the 49ers, the team couldn’t keep their 14-point lead. Jennings set career highs with 11 catches for 175 yards and three touchdowns for the 49ers, who blew a lead of at least 14 points for the first time since 2018.
While the Rams have salvaged hope for their season, the defending NFC champions were left flustered, frustrated, and under .500 for the first time since Brock Purdy became their starting quarterback in 2022. The Rams, without their top two receivers and no wins, were down by 14 points in the second half. However, they fought back and scored 20 points in the last 19 minutes to win the game.
Week 3 Player of the Week: Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills dominated the game, with quarterback Josh Allen throwing four touchdown passes in the first half alone. The Bills scored touchdowns on each of their five first-half drives, securing a decisive 47-10 victory over the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars. Allen showcased his skill, completing 22 of 28 passes for 247 yards in the first 30 minutes, connecting with nine different receivers. After halftime, he only attempted two passes, finishing 23 of 30 for 263 yards before being replaced by Mitchell Trubisky.
Allen’s touchdown passes were spread across four different receivers: Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Ty Johnson. This strong performance has propelled the Bills to a 3-0 start, marking their first since 2020 and the third under coach Sean McDermott’s leadership since 2017. Additionally, the team has consistently scored over 30 points in each game, showcasing their offensive prowess.
