On Friday, the Sammies had a great day, especially with the football team winning against Lunenburg on The Blue Knights Senior night. The game was intense, with both teams playing well. The Sammies secured a win with a game-winning touchdown by Liam Gervickas, catching the ball over two defenders in the corner of the end zone.
Sutton scored first with a 9-yard rushing touchdown by Senior quarterback Cam Benedict. The Blue Knights scored just before halftime and again at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, making the score 14-7. In the 4th quarter, Cam Benedict scored a 1-yard run, and the defense made a crucial play to force a turnover. The Sammies won the game 20-14, bringing their record to 1-1. The final score was 20-14, bringing the Sammies’ record to 1-1.
The Sammie’s soccer games were postponed because of bus issues in Marlborough. The boy’s record still sits at 4-2.
Volleyball lost to Millbury 3-0 in Romasco Gym, McKenzie Elliott had 4 kills and 7 digs on the night. Senior Sydney Scott also had 1 ace, 6 kills, and 11 digs as the Suzies were defeated by the Woolies. Volleyball moves to 2-4 and looks to improve as the season continues.
