San Francisco 30 New England 13
The New England Patriots continued their losing streak Sunday, as the San Francisco 49ers defeated them 30-13. The 49ers’ quarterback, Brock Purdy, threw a touchdown pass, and linebacker Fred Warner scored with an interception return. The 49ers’ defense was strong, securing six sacks and a touchdown. Purdy completed 15/27 passes for 288 yards, and Jordan Mason ran for an impressive 123 yards. Warner showcased his skills with a diving interception that he returned for a touchdown. He has forced three fumbles and made two interceptions so far this season. Meanwhile, the Patriots faced difficulties in their passing game. Their quarterback, Brissett, was sacked six times and completed only 19/32 passes for 168 yards.
Minnesota 31 Green Bay 29
The Minnesota Vikings won 31-29 against the Green Bay Packers. Vikings’ quarterback Sam Darnold threw three touchdown passes, helping his team take a 28-point lead early in the game, with Jordan Addison scoring twice. Despite a strong comeback from the Packers in the second half, the Vikings maintained their undefeated record, now at 4-0 for the first time since 2016.
The Vikings have only trailed for less than four minutes this season, but they need to be cautious of a midseason slump, similar to what happened eight years ago when they started 5-0 but then struggled.
Additionally, Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned after a two-game absence due to a left knee injury. He threw for a career-high 389 yards and four touchdowns but also had three interceptions.
Aaron Jones, a former Packers running back, made an impactful return to Lambeau Field, rushing for 93 yards and adding four catches for 46 yards after signing with the Vikings in March.
Game of the Week: Atlanta 26 New Orleans 24
Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo’s career-long 58-yard field goal with two seconds left led the Falcons to a 26-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Despite Atlanta not scoring an offensive touchdown, Koo made four field goals, including kicks from 53, 44, and 42 yards. This secured a much-needed home win for the Falcons, bringing their record to 2-2.
Koo has made eight game-winning kicks in the final 10 seconds since the start of the 2021 season, the most in the league during that time. His kick also set a new record for the longest field goal in the stadium’s seven-year history.
Additionally, Rashid Shaheed made what turned out to be a bad decision to call a fair catch on a punt at the Saints’ two yard line, allowing the ball to bounce off his shoulder pads and into the end zone, where KhaDarel Hodge recovered it for Atlanta.
Linebacker Troy Andersen scored on a pick-six after a pass from Derek Carr was deflected by Matthew Judon, sprinting 47 yards down the sideline to give the Falcons a 17-14 lead at halftime.
Player of the Week: Derrick Henry, RB, Baltimore Ravens
On Sunday night, Derrick Henry had an impressive performance. The experienced running back accumulated 209 yards in total (199 rushing, 10 receiving) and scored two touchdowns, contributing to Baltimore’s dominant win over the Bills. Taking the first snap from scrimmage, Derrick Henry sprinted 87 yards for a quick touchdown against the Buffalo Bills, setting the tone for the Ravens’ 35-10 victory.
