In the upcoming and already eventful 2024 United States Presidential Election, both major party candidates have been frequently accused of being coy, vague, or even outright ignoring various issues. The recent Presidential debate has been cited by the media as physical evidence of the candidates doing exactly that. However, with extensive research, both candidates’ positions can be coherently discovered. Taxes & Wages
Trump has proposed to lower taxes across the board, claiming that his tax policies when he was President helped increase workers’ wages and the wages of minorities and women. He also highlighted his establishment of 9,000 economic opportunity zones to help neglected communities. Harris has taken a populist turn in her economics by proposing to lower taxes for the middle and lower classes while raising taxes on the rich. She also has proposed to eliminate the tax for tips for service workers, which Trump had proposed back in June especially in the restaurant industry.
