In the upcoming and already eventful 2024 United States Presidential Election, both major party candidates have been frequently accused of being coy, vague, or even outright ignoring various issues. The recent Presidential debate has been cited by the media as physical evidence of the candidates doing exactly that. However, with extensive research, both candidates’ positions can be coherently discovered. Seeing as it’s (probably) a good idea to know a candidate’s position on the issues before you vote for them or not, I researched and compiled their positions for you.
Democracy & Project 2025
Trump’s campaign has garnered significant criticism for perceived connections to Project 2025, a transition plan created by The Heritage Foundation, which includes various proposals that have been described as authoritarian, fascistic, and discriminatory. During his campaign, he has tried to distance himself from Project 2025 frequently, with little success. However, it should be noted that Trump does have an official plan separate from Project 2025, called Agenda 47, however, it has also been described by critics similarly to Project 2025. Trump has been accused of attempting to put his own slate of “alternate” President electors in various 2020 swing states he fell short in after he lost the election. Furthermore, there are accusations that Trump instigated the January 6th riot at the Capitol. However, it should be noted that neither of these accusations have yet been proven in a court of law. Harris has been using these stains on Trump’s record to her fullest advantage, using them as a rallying call for her campaign, just as Biden’s did. Because of this, she’s been able to pick up endorsements from large groups of prominent Republicans. A key part of her strategy has been linking Trump with Project 2025. Again though, I cannot emphasize this enough, these are only accusations at this point and have not been definitively proven yet.
