Boys Soccer: Defense was the name of the game in the Div. 5 State Final between Sutton and Dearborn STEM. German exchange student Paul Kuepker will be remembered in Sutton soccer history after helping the Sammies win its first championship in ten years. After a goalless 90 minutes of regulation time and two overtimes against No. 4 Dearborn STEM, the match went to penalty kicks. Kuepker came in as goalie for phenomenal goalkeeper Issac Bradley, securing a 3-1 win in penalties after Bradley’s shutout in regulation.
Sutton’s victory marked their sixth boys’ soccer title and first since 2014.
Girls Soccer: It’s a 4-peat for the Suzies. They won Division V titles in 2021 and 2022 and then moved up to Division IV, where they won the championship again in 2023. On Saturday night, the Suzies beat Hamilton-Wenham 2-0 at Curry College to claim the Division IV title for the second year in a row. Sutton captains Ava Magnuson and Addy Jerome each scored, and the defense was great, only allowing four shots on goal.
What a great way to send off the Sutton Seniors, state title winners every single year of high school!
