School invasions are way lower than everyone expects, so is it really important for students and teachers to participate in shooting drills? Also, considering students are usually the active shooters, all the evacuation locations and safe spots on the rooms would be easily known by any student, so how do we really keep all students safe?
One proposal for this problem is the regulation on the clothing of students. While this does not mean school uniforms, prohibiting big baggy clothes that could hide a gun and replace it with light, more fitted clothing would decrease the ability to carry a weapon.
Another proposition is that students’ backpacks could be registered at the entrance of the school. This is a better way to improve safety but it’ll also damage the trust relationship of the students and administration.
Many parents are worried about the safety of their children. Keeping students safe and parents feeling they are safe are very important.
There’s no one reason for school shootings, but a possible reason is they’re affected by their relationship with friends, parents and family. We need society to continue to adapt to the new era where we try to stay safe and open minded to every person without criticizing or judging others. That’s another method of preventing school violence. Getting professional help for those who need it more can be really productive and eventually it will help with these problems.

And that’s a point in favor of schools–they’re seeking inclusion for everyone, so no one could ever be discriminated against, lowering even more the percentage of gun violence incidents in schools.
Though we are trying to connect and engage everyone in fun and safe learning activities, we should be always prepared for anything. This means creating more ways to evacuate the buildings. Schools could take a half day or day off from teaching and show students how to react to these situations and maybe ask for professional help and advice with firefighters or paramedics. It could be really useful.
Changing the methods of evacuation can be useful too, as some methods could be better if teachers knew and practiced them. Students could just follow the teacher and be safe, not exposing themselves to danger in case of a school invasion. Yes, a student could be the perpetrator and know the plans, but trained teachers who have practiced these plans will also be prepared to adjust the plans due to their training.

When it comes to school shootings there are many factors that can lead to a shooting. Typically, the perpetrators have a bad relationship with their parents, friends or classmates, and are often being bullied or ignored. Most of the time the perpetrators are not considered mentally ill, and often it’s just an excuse used to change the point of view on guns, trying to avoid any restriction on them, and enforcing the opinion that guns are safe as long as they are not used by mentally ill people.
A common factor between gun violence and school shootings is the easy accessibility to a gun by kids. Most of the guns used in mass shootings and school shootings belong to a friend, a parent or a relative. This is a reason to enforce gun laws stating they must be secure or locked up, and hopefully make schools (and society) safe.

(Seth Perlman/AP)There should be stricter regulations on guns, making it more complex to acquire one, and buyers should pass a test to ensure that they are capable of handling a gun and keeping it away from anyone else. Minimizing the options available to buy is something we should consider, because if someone buys a gun to hunt or do any other activities they should be looking for a gun appropriate for that activity, instead of looking for a firearm that can easily kill a human being.
The primary goal is to make society, and especially schools, safe. A few common sense changes/trainings would go a long ways to making everyone safer.
