After finishing the season 7 – 2, the Sutton Waluigi Warriors were the #2 seed and opened against #3 Medford High School. Sutton lost the first round of six races by a combined score of 128 – 106, but rebounded to win Rounds Two and Three (119 – 115 and 136 – 98) to earn a spot in the finals.

In the final, Sutton played #1 Methuen who had beaten Sutton twice during the regular season including their last regular season game. It was also a rematch of the last state championship in May.
After jumping out to a 15 point lead after the first race in Round One, Sutton lost almost all of that advantage in Race Two. Sutton ended up behind after four races, but battled back to earn a hard fought 118 – 116 victory in Round One following the 6th race.
In Round Two, they were again behind after four races, but dominated Races Five and Six to secure the series with a 131 – 104 victory.
Abby LaCoe led all scorers with 75 points, Logan Rainville scored 73, and Annabeth Drummond scored 62. It was a truly dominant performance from our 8th and 9th graders!
