Weird Dietary Consumptions
There are many food combos: which are terrible and which ones are?
October 5, 2022
Opinions about food combinations are a very diverse topic. For example, the sweet and sour that goes into Sour Patch Kids, or hot sauce and eggs. These are acceptable. However, I think that we can all agree that there are some food combinations that should just be illegal.
So I surveyed a few people about weird food combinations that they heard of and what they think of others.
The survey, also asks “What other weird food combos have you heard of or eaten yourself?” Here are some of my favorite responses:
One person said they enjoyed Orange juice and coffee mixed together and that it is super “underrated”. They were also so kind as to add the name of this so-called delicious beverage, “Orange Joe.”
Quite a few other people stated that they like Ketch-up and Mac ‘n’ Cheese. It seems that Ketch-up is very popular in many food combos. Other examples of this are Ketch-up and pickles, eggs, and popcorn.
One combo that was brought up as one of the answers on the survey was chicken and waffles. I have actually tried chicken and waffles myself, and it is not as bad as you would think. It is kind of the equivalent of having sausage with your waffles.
Another example was Doritos dipped in whipped cream or Cool Whip. Many people say that this dish would not taste good, but a few select would be open-minded to try it. Another few select people on the survey knew she was the one who brought it up and called her out via the survey.
So, as you can see there are many different opinions on the matter.
Toppings that go on pizza can always be considered weird or delicious. This question was asked on the survey as well, “When going to a pizza parlor, what is the strangest thing you’ve seen on a pizza?”
The poll came out to be an almost three-way split between Anchovies, pineapple, and goat cheese with an apple. As well as these there were many other diverse options that people put in the survey’s “other” section.
On a separate part of the survey, it lists different vile (in my opinion) food combos. Then it asks people to rate them on a scale from “abso – freaking – lutly” to “that is a disgrace to human nature.”
The food combo voted most foul, was peanut butter in a burger. Pickles in peanut butter were one vote away from tying with the peanut butter in a burger. However, this combo seemed to get a lot of praise online in comparison to the reaction in the survey.
The weird food combination that had the most people willing to try it was the maple syrup and bacon option. I can agree, it is pretty good. French fries in ice cream came in a close second with only a two-vote difference. I would not try this because I believe the lovely sweetness of the ice cream and the perfect saltiness of the french fry should never, EVER clash.
The combination with the most diverse opinions was Flaming Hot Cheetos and cream cheese. The votes on this one were considerably even across the board. Some thought this would be delicious, others not so much, and some just didn’t know.
As you have probably determined by this information, food combinations mean different things to many different people. Some are fully against them, others are open to trying them, and there are few who would thoroughly enjoy them.
In the end, there is really no right or wrong answer.
