Winter is a lazy season–it’s cold and it seems like there is never something to do. Is that really true?
As a child the second it snows you are excited to put on your snow pants and boots and run out into the blizzard. But when you start to get older that desire to freeze your butt off sitting in the snow-making angles dwindles. What else can you fill your cold winter weekends with other than laying in bed all day?
Skiing and Snowboarding are extremely popular here in the northeast. There are countless mountains to choose from and hundreds of trails. There is a run for every level. Skiing is the perfect winter sport other than the cost. There are ways to combat this price. Owning your skis and gear and purchasing a pass like the Epic will give you unlimited access to a large number of mountains all over the world and you only pay once a year. Starting in this sport will be a hit on the bank account but lucky you only have to buy your gear occasionally.
Snowmobiling is another awesome winter activity. There is no better way to spend your days than to travel up north and snowmobile! This is another expensive sport but the memories made and the scenery itself is truly amazing. The cost of the gear isn’t too bad. All you need are the basic winter gear: a helmet (this can get pricy) and of course a snowmobile which of course is the most expensive of all. Next you need registrations. Overall both snowmobiling and skiing are some of the more expensive options for winter fun but are most definitely worth it. Finally, we have ice skating! This has been a fan favorite forever. This cheap option is equally fun and accessible–not much travel is needed. This is especially fun because you don’t have to wait for the weather to be good. After all, there are indoor rinks everywhere.
Winter is a tricky season to stay active but with these sports, there will never be a dull moment.
