When Season One of Outer Banks was released in 2020, it was almost instantly loved by millions. According to The Wrap, as of Season Four being released, Outer Banks has over 8.8 million views. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Outer Banks has received 71% positive reviews on the “Popcorn meter”, and 79% positive professional critique reviews on the “Tomato meter.”
So what is Outer Banks? Outer Banks is a show based on the modern-day Outer Banks in North Carolina. Half of the Outer Banks is populated by very rich people, known as the “Kooks.” They live in mansions, with yachts, and in this show, are known to be very spoiled and arrogant people.
Then there are the “Pouges.” The lower class of the Outer Banks. While they may not be rich, they generally seem to enjoy life, which goes with their motto: “have a good time, all the time.” This may not be a huge island, but that doesn’t stop the people from keeping things exciting.
There are six main characters in Season Four. First, John B. (played by Chase Stokes) is essentially the leader of the friend group. He is devoted to picking up where his dad left off, on a mission to find treasure.
JJ(Ruby Pankow) has been John B’s best friend since the third grade, and is the dare-devil of the friend group. He doesn’t let danger stop him, which could be a bad, or arguably good thing.
Pope (Johnathan Daviss) is the brains of the group. He cares about his grades at school, and always comes at problems with a logistical standpoint.
Kiara or “Kie” (Madison Bailey) has been friends with the guys for a long time. She cares a lot about the wildlife, especially sea turtles, and keeping the ocean clean. She isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, and fight for what’s right.
Sarah (Madelyn Cline), a former Kook and one of the newer members of the circle, is trying to escape her unfortunate family history. She uses former connections to her advantage, and always seems to know what information will be where, and where to find it. In Season Three, she makes a few connections, which helps guide herself and John B. to their goal.
Last, but not least, Cleo (Carlacia Grant) is the newest member of the friend group. We haven’t learned much about her past yet, but we do know that she is an incredible fighter, and is known for carrying a knife with her, almost wherever she goes. Despite being tough, she has a very kind personality.
When part one of Season Four was released, people started posting theories. One of the biggest theories being discussed by fans is that JJ will die. It is not known how, when, or even by who. However, after seeing the Part Two teaser, it leaves fans very suspicious. The second theory is that Sarah will be pregnant. This comes as a surprise, considering everything the Pouges are going through.
