For the fifth straight year, the Girls Soccer team has advanced to the Final Four. It start with a Round of 16 victory over Manchester Essex, 5-0 on Saturday. Then, on Wednesday, they defeated Lunenburg 4-0 to advance to the Final Four.
The girls will play Monday against Cohasset. Game time is 7 p.m. and at Manning Field in Lynn.
For the tournament, they have scored 15 goals and have not given up a goal. Ava Magnuson has been on a scoring tear, scoring multiple times, and the defense has been top shelf, largely limiting their opponent to less than two quality chances per match.
Sadly, the Sammies season concluded with a Round of 16 loss to Cohasset in penalty kicks. Despite quality defense and never say quit attitude, their season is over.
The Field Hockey season also came to an end in the Round of 8. Frontier came out on top 2-1, and another fine season concluded.
On Thursday, four Sutton athletes committed to play sports at the collegiate level. Ava Magnuson committed to play soccer at William and Mary, Sarah Mendoza committed to play soccer at Saint Anselm College, Abigail Jankins committed to play soccer at University of New Haven, and Annie Lamoreaux committed to running cross country for Sacred Heart University. Congratulations ladies!
