You want to be fashionable, and you want everyone to like your outfits when you walk in a room, but the thing is, you don’t have $500 to spend every week at the mall. You don’t need to spend $500 on every mall trip you take, you don’t need designer bags and over-priced hoodies just to feel good about what you are wearing. Here are some ways to look stylish without throwing away your whole paycheck.
Thrifting is a good way to find slightly used clothes without paying the full price. Sometimes people don’t want to thrift because they find it grimy. Old clothes, who wants that!
Well, that’s not completely true. Yes, some thrift stores are dirtier than others, but some are kept quite clean. Thrifting is a very good way to find vintage clothing too, I have found many vintage pieces for fractions of the price they would have been from the actual store.
Thrifting can also be quite fun, you can shop with your friends and not be worried about getting too carried away. There are many thrift stores around us!
One downside to thrifting that many point out is all the searching you have to do. Normally, depending on the store, the clothes aren’t put together by brand, but by what they are. Shirts go together, no matter what style, pants go together, no matter what brand.
When thrifting you may have to dig around and some people rather just shop from the comfort of their own couch, but if you are, you are spending much more than you would if you were thrifting. Many gems can be found when you look hard enough.

Another way to shop for fashionable items that are well priced is sales. As we know, Black Friday just passed and there were many deals on websites, in stores, and flaunted around signs and billboards. Shopping for deals doesn’t have to be just on days like Black Friday, many stores make too much of one item and have to lower the price to get more of it out.
When I go to the mall and I go in any random store, I often see a sale section. They are very common and mainly just a way to get rid of some certain pieces of clothing quicker.
More ways include: ThredUP, Poshmark, Depop, and more online sources. These are online apps or websites used to sell and buy clothing from other people. I have ordered from Depop before and the package came very quickly and the piece I ordered was very nice and way more reasonably priced, plus it still had the tag!
These online stores appear to me as trustworthy, but I could see how someone could get scammed. A good way to insure you don’t get scammed is by looking at the seller’s profile and seeing their reviews!
One last way to get fashionable items on a budget include asking your friends or family if you can have an item they don’t want very much or buy something off them for cheap. If my friend never wore something and I really liked it, I would ask them if I could either buy it or if they were just going to get rid of it and I could have it instead.
These are just some ways to get fashionable items without destroying your paycheck every single week at the mall or expensive, overpriced shops.
