Have you ever wondered which is better–working out at a public gym or staying at home to get a workout done? Let’s look at the benefits for both and compare them.

When you choose to pay for a membership at your local gym, you have access to lots of equipment, depending on the gym you choose. Public gyms offer a variety of cardio machines, professional lifting equipment, weights, etc.
You can also work out with other people because you are in a social setting. It can keep you more entertained, socially engaged with people, and motivated to work out.
Many gyms also offer individual or small group training sessions if you want to have a structured workout plan by a professional. There is also much more space in the gym, compared to the limited home space.
Also, your gym membership often includes various extra amenities like: access to workout classes, saunas, spas, massages, etc. Going to the gym in person may make you more consistent because you can’t slack off; you have to get up and drive to the gym to get there.Â

Home workouts are another option. Paying for a gym membership may be too expensive and out of your budget when you can work out at home. Your commute to the gym could be long, which is a disadvantage because you waste time driving there and back.
There is much more convenience at your house, and you can enjoy the comfort of your own home. You also have privacy and no shame or embarrassment of working out around others.
There are many different online classes that are available that require little to no equipment. Time on equipment is also a struggle with going to the gym, but if you have the equipment at your house, you never have to worry about when you can use it.
Your chances of getting sick are also reduced because you are not around lots of people touching the same equipment. But there is also a space issue. Can you really complete a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout in your house or lift weights without destroying your furniture? Will you have the motivation to get set up and complete a workout in your house since you are already home? Or will you get bored with staying in your house and working out?
Summary:

Both options of working out are great because you are exercising. It really depends on the type of person you are, how much time you have, and how serious you are about it.
If you do not have time to drive all the way to the gym, you will still be benefiting from a workout at your house. If you feel you will get lazy and bored, going to the gym would be a better fit for you.
Many studies have shown that both options are great; they have their pros and cons. It is completely up to you to decide so that you are best suited for your exercise.
