What is the Promising Practices award?
The Promising Practices award is given to a recipient who provides motivation and inspiration to students. When asked, Superintendent Caitlin Paget stated about recipients, “Their lessons are snapshots of instruction that are engaging, encourage collaboration between students and staff, and demonstrate best practices in meeting student academic and social-emotional needs. Most importantly, the recipients’ lessons serve as exemplars in cultivating higher-order thinking skills across all content areas.” Ms. Trudeau met all of these expectations. She was recognized for transforming her own classroom into a space where students would feel comfortable, heard, supported, and “empowered to live happier and healthier lives.”
About Ms. Trudeau
Ms. Trudeau is a health teacher at Sutton High School. She has been in this position since the school year of 2019-2020. Before she started working at Sutton, she was a social worker at a foster care agency in Worcester, MA. She did this for three years. For both of her jobs, she has been incredibly passionate about general wellness, belonging, and community, which has been a major focus. Not only does she teach health, but she has also taught the significance of “balance, empathy, and resilience” (Superintendent Paget).
Who nominated Ms. Trudeau?
Our former assistant principal, Mr. Liporto, nominated Ms. Trudeau for this award. Each administrator provided information to all of the people they felt met the criteria, as Superintendent Paget stated. Mr. Liporto nominated Ms. Trudeau because of her digital detox and cell-phone administration projects. Students are always heard by her, and she makes every interaction with students authentic. I believe that any student in this school could agree that Ms. Trudeau is one of the sweetest, most heartfelt, and positive staff members here. Many will benefit from her educational classes and her workshop.

What was Ms. Trudeau’s Project?
Ms. Trudeau created the Digital Wellness Workshop. She completed this project last year. Superintendent Paget shared that she put an ample amount of work into this project. The goal of her project was to “address digital dependence for high school students while creating healthier cell phone habits both in and outside of school.” But this project is not done; it is ongoing. This project aims to create a healthier environment in our high school, promoting healthier habits for all. It has taught the critical cautions a cell phone addiction can have, and addresses the reasons to take a digital detox.
Where did this take place?
The award ceremony took place on December 16th, 2025, at the Three Seasons Restaurant in the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical School. This was to honor all of the recipients who had received the Promising Practices award for the year 2025. Our Principal, Mr. Urquahart, and our Superintendent Pagent, got the opportunity to attend that event.
Congratulations to Ms. Trudeau for being a recipient of the Promising Practices Award!
